Financial Services and Insurance Techniques (410.F0) is a three-year Diploma of College Studies (DEC) offered at Cegep de Sainte-Foy, with intake in the Fall term only; an intensive two-year stream (410.F9) is also available. The program trains students to advise clients on financial and insurance products across financial and tax planning, banking solutions, insurance and annuities, portfolio management, and succession planning. Coursework develops analytical and advisory skills for recommending products suited to a client's objectives. Graduates pursue roles such as financial advisor, analyst, contract manager, insurance agent or broker, claims expert, and administrative technician, working in banks, insurance firms, and financial-services companies. Students are required to acquire a laptop computer from the first session, at an approximate cost of $1,000. The credential also supports pathways into university administration and finance programs, for which some institutions ask for additional college-level mathematics.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires meeting Cegep de Sainte-Foy's general CEGEP admission conditions, as published on the college's admission page; the program states no specific course prerequisites. Selection is based on the quality of the applicant's academic record, and candidates meeting the admission requirements are generally admitted. The college notes that some universities require college-level mathematics courses for admission into administration programs for students pursuing further university study. An intensive two-year stream (410.F9) is also offered alongside the regular three-year program. No French or English language-proficiency test, portfolio, or interview is required. The program is offered starting in the Fall term only.
