Overview
This pre-university Diploma of College Studies (DEC), program code 500.75, focuses on language proficiency and intercultural communication as preparation for university studies or bilingual and multilingual work environments. Students develop advanced English competency for academic and professional contexts where English is the working language, build Spanish communication skills for clear everyday and professional exchanges, and study linguistics alongside the cultural diversity of the French-, English- and Spanish-speaking worlds through classroom study, projects, and cultural outings. The program runs two years over four sessions of full-time study and combines the Languages profile's specialized language and linguistics courses with the general education curriculum required of all Quebec pre-university DEC programs. Graduates are prepared to pursue undergraduate studies in fields such as languages, linguistics, translation, international studies, or communications, or to enter the workforce in roles requiring strong multilingual skills. Admission requires a Quebec Secondary School Diploma (DES) or equivalent; the program has no specific subject prerequisites.
