Overview
This new three-year Diploma of College Studies (DEC, programme code 221.B0) in Civil Engineering Technology is set to begin at Cégep de Victoriaville in fall 2027, with its course grid still subject to board approval. Students learn to perform technical surveys and surveying work using specialized equipment, produce technical plans and drawings using industry software, carry out analyses and calculations related to structures, roads, and municipal infrastructure, control material quality, and supervise stages of construction projects, using digital tools and modelling for sustainable project delivery. The program offers two pathways: a DEC-BAC route allowing completion of a civil engineering bachelor's degree at Université Laval in three years instead of four, and a technologist-focused route oriented toward direct workforce entry with the option to pursue university studies later. Graduates are prepared to work for surveying and geomatics firms, construction companies, infrastructure and structural specialty firms, engineering consulting firms, testing and quality-control laboratories, municipalities and public bodies, government ministries and Crown corporations, and real estate developers.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Meet the general CEGEP admission conditions, plus Secondary 5 Mathematics (TS or SN) and Secondary 4 Science and Technology/Environment (or Environmental Science). The DEC-BAC pathway to Universite Laval also requires a passing grade in Secondary 5 Chemistry.
