Overview
Building Automation Systems Technology is a two-year, on-campus diploma delivered through NAIT's Immersive Industry Education (IIE) model, in which 51% or more of the program's learning takes place on the job with an employer. The curriculum covers building automation fundamentals and Direct Digital Controls, automation control networks, programming and commissioning of building control system components, electrical systems and BAS safety practices, technical drawing and specification skills for automation projects, and HVAC systems and their operation. Students also build professional and ethical standards and communication and team-collaboration skills for building automation work. The program prepares students to commission, install, maintain, service and troubleshoot building automation systems as demand grows for professionals who can build, design and maintain energy-efficient and smart buildings. The program has a Fall intake and is not open to international students.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires Grade 12 Language Arts (English 30-2), Grade 12 Mathematics (Math 30-2), Grade 11 Chemistry (Chemistry 20), Physics (Physics 20) or Science (Science 20), and proof of English Language Proficiency. No competitive or minimum admission average is published.
