Program details

Overview

Natural Sciences (Sciences de la nature) is a pre-university Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) offered by Cégep de Victoriaville over four sessions (two years) at its Victoriaville campus. The program combines general education requirements with science-specific coursework in chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and programming, building competency in the scientific method, experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving through hands-on laboratory work. In the final session, students complete a capstone multidisciplinary project that integrates knowledge from across the program. An optional scientific-exploration mobility project on the Côte-Nord and the chance to present research at Expo-sciences are also offered. Graduates without additional prerequisites can pursue a wide range of university science programs, including architecture, agronomy, biology, chemistry, several engineering specializations, medicine, pharmacy, physics, and mathematics. The program suits students with a strong interest in the sciences, analytical thinking skills, and the ability to work well in teams, who intend to continue into university-level science or health studies. A laptop meeting minimum specifications (Windows 11, 250GB SSD, 8GB RAM, i5 processor or equivalent) is required for coursework.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Sciences de la nature program at Cégep de Victoriaville requires Mathématiques TS ou SN, Physique, and Chimie, all from Secondary 5, in addition to the Cégep's general admission conditions. Those general conditions call for a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) from the youth or adult sector, or a vocational diploma (DEP) supplemented by fifth-secondary language of instruction, fifth-secondary second language and fourth-secondary mathematics; the Cégep may require levelling courses for older diplomas and can grant conditional admission to applicants missing up to six units toward their DES, on condition they complete these in their first semester. As a French-medium CEGEP program, instruction is delivered in French and the general admission page states no separate English-language test requirement. The program page lists no portfolio, interview or other special condition beyond these academic prerequisites.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through SRACQ (sracq.qc.ca): for the Fall 2027 (August) intake three admission rounds close 1 March, 1 May and 1 June 2027, and for Winter 2027 (January) entry rounds close 1 November, 1 December 2026 and 2 January 2027, each later round admitting only while seats remain. The Cegep does not publish a fixed international application deadline; international applicants follow a separate admission process and must hold a valid CAQ and study permit by the start of August for Fall entry, so early application is recommended. Admission is otherwise processed on a rolling basis as documents are received. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
