HD in Networking - Computer Systems Technology (Optional Co-op)

Centennial College's popular Computer Systems Technology - Networking program will focus on the latest in computer systems. In this advanced diploma program's hands-on courses, you'll gain plenty of practical experience. You'll be delving into computer hardware and learning the intricacies of operating systems, exploring up-to-date computer systems and network technologies. Working with computers, servers and network tools, you learn how to administer and manage operating systems (Windows/Unix/Linux), converged networks (VoIP), wireless networks, network security, data centre, virtualization, and cloud. The program offers opportunities to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in assembling and maintaining systems and networks that serve to empower users in creative, business and communication activities. With faculty members from the school of Applied Sciences, Engineering Technology, Trades, and Transportation (ASENT3) maintaining a close watch on technology trends, this college computer program's lessons will reflect the ever-growing innovations of the digital revolution. This will ensure you'll be career-ready for jobs in computer systems, computer networks, internet, intranet, extranet and telecoms technical support. You'll develop technical expertise in areas that include: Network design, management and troubleshooting PC hardware and multivendor operating systems Data centre Virtualization and cloud technologies Converged (VoIP) networks Network security Wireless networks Administration and management of Windows/Linux systems The program offers a co-op option (program #3415). Academically qualified students may enhance their education and gain work experience to support employability through field placement in the IT-related industry as paid employees. The college’s department for Co-op Education and Career Services provides support for resumé development, mock interviews and industry outreach for job postings. Students in the co-op program will learn to prepare for their co-op via COOP-121 (Co-op Preplacement Course). Qualified college or university graduates with a background in networks may gain direct admission into Semester 3 of this three-year program and receive their Computer Systems Technology - Networking advanced diploma in four semesters (program #3425). There is also the option to complete a co-op component in the fast-track program (program #3435).
