This apprenticeship training program at Centennial College prepares registered parts technician apprentices for entry-level positions in vehicle and equipment parts businesses and dealerships. In-school instruction runs one day per week, on Thursdays, over two years (36 weeks), totalling 540 hours of classroom training at 270 hours per year, delivered in person at the Ashtonbee Campus. Coursework covers Applied Work Practices, Communications and Customer Support, Merchandising and Inventory Control, and Component Technology and Technical Skills, building the essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes required to work with vehicle and equipment parts. In-school training is combined with on-the-job experience under a sponsoring employer as part of the apprenticeship. Graduates receive a Centennial College Certificate on completion of the in-school component. Admission is limited to individuals already registered as apprentices with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario; the Ministry invites eligible apprentices to attend rather than accepting direct applications to the College.
