Overview
Parts Technicians manage and dispense parts inventories, which may include automotive, heavy-duty equipment, farm implement, industrial, recreational vehicle, plumbing and electrical parts, among others. Parts Technician is a non-restricted certified trade regulated under Ontario's Apprenticeship and Certification Act. Sault College delivers the trade's in-school training online, covering both the basic and advanced levels of instruction rather than in-person shop or classroom sessions. The program is open only to individuals already registered as Parts Technician apprentices with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, who complete this online classroom training while working with a sponsoring employer. Sault College is not running an intake of this program for the 2026/2027 academic year, though the college notes it may be reinstated in a future academic year.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Apprenticeship in-school training at Sault College is only available to individuals already registered as apprentices with Ontario's Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities; applicants must be at least 16 years of age to enter apprenticeship training. Academic entrance requirements vary by trade, generally ranging from a Grade 10 to a Grade 12 standing, though most employers and unions require Grade 12 with a solid foundation in Mathematics, English and the Sciences.
