Trades - Apprenticeship in Alignment and Brakes Technician

The Alignment and Brakes Technician apprenticeship at Centennial College trains registered apprentices in the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of vehicle alignment, suspension, and brake systems. Delivered on campus at the Ashtonbee Campus, the program is organized into two in-school levels, each an eight-week block-release session that alternates with periods of employer-based on-the-job training. Level 1 introduces workplace health and safety, general shop practices, suspension systems, and brake systems; Level 2 builds on this foundation with frame and steering system repair, tire, wheel, hub, and axle service, and wheel alignment procedures. Students combine classroom theory with hands-on shop work using industry equipment. On successful completion of both in-school levels, the required on-the-job training hours, and the Ministry certification exam, graduates receive an Ontario College Certificate and are eligible to become certified Alignment and Brakes Technicians. Admission is arranged through the Ministry rather than direct application to the College.
