This apprenticeship program at Centennial College covers the design, installation, and service of refrigeration and air conditioning systems in residential and commercial buildings, leading to certification in the 313A refrigeration and air conditioning systems mechanic trade. In-school training is structured across three levels, basic, intermediate, and advanced, delivered in person, and combined with approximately 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with a sponsoring employer. Level 1 in-school training begins in August, while Levels 2 and 3 begin in January. Coursework builds technical knowledge and hands-on skills in refrigeration and air conditioning system components, installation practices, and service techniques. On completion of all three in-school levels and the required employer-based hours, apprentices work toward an Ontario College Certificate and provincial trade certification. Admission is limited to individuals formally employed as apprentices in the trade; the College does not accept direct applications, as eligibility and enrolment in each level are coordinated through the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and the apprentice's employer.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must be formally employed as an apprentice, currently working in the trade, and released by their employer to attend in-school training as a registered 313A apprentice.
