Social Service Worker Certificate

Admission Requirements: Coast Mountain College's Social Service Worker Certificate requires Math 11 and English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12, or equivalent; Grade 12 graduation is recommended but not mandatory. English proficiency must meet the college's own English Language Alternatives standards; per the institution's general admission requirements those tiered minimums include IELTS Academic overall 6.0 (bands 5.0-6.0), TOEFL iBT overall 72-80, PTE Academic overall 52-57, CAEL overall 50-60, or Duolingo overall 105-115. Applicants must document at least 45 hours of paid or volunteer work in a human-service agency within the past three years, supply a written or oral summary of that experience, and provide two references from an employer, volunteer supervisor, teacher, or human-service professional attesting to their suitability. A Criminal Record Check is mandatory before enrolment, can take up to eight weeks to process, and certain offences bar practicum placement, graduation, and subsequent employment; the program coordinator assesses overall applicant suitability. The Fall 2026 intake runs in Terrace.
