Overview
The Practical Nursing Program is designed to provide learners with the knowledge, skills, judgments and attitudes to perform to the full range of competencies as identified by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The program provides a learning experience that is integrated, professional, collaborative and culturally sensitive with an aim to prepare graduates to care for individuals (and by extension, families of individuals) at multiple life stages and in a variety of practice settings. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be eligible to write the Regulatory Exam - Practical Nurse (REx-PN).
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Grade 12 graduation or equivalent, with Math 11 Foundations at 60%+ (or equivalent), English Studies 12 at 65%+ (or English First Peoples 12), Anatomy and Physiology 12 at 60%+ (or equivalent), and Human Anatomy and Physiology for Practical Nurses (HLPR 103) or equivalent at 65%+. Also requires current CPR, First Aid (within 12 months), a criminal record check, immunizations, and TB screening. Applicants who are not native English speakers must provide IELTS Academic overall band 7.0 or CELBAN.
Application Deadline:Coast Mountain College runs one common application calendar across its campuses rather than a single date per programme. Domestic applicants: for the 2026-27 academic year, applications opened 1 October 2026; the final day to apply is 24 December 2026 for Winter (January 2027) entry, 23 April 2027 for Spring/Summer 2027, and 30 August 2027 for Fall 2027.
