Trades - Apprenticeship in Carpentry: Apprenticeship - Harmonized

This is the technical training component of the harmonized carpentry apprenticeship for students already registered as apprentices with a Trades Worker Identification number. Delivered across four levels, it builds on foundation-level skills to develop competency in concrete formwork, framing, and interior and exterior finishing across residential, commercial, and industrial construction, following the national harmonized carpentry curriculum set by the Industry Training Authority. Each level combines a block of in-class technical training, roughly 210 hours per level, at the Terrace or Smithers campus, with substantial paid, on-the-job training completed with an employer between technical sessions; total on-the-job hours across the apprenticeship run into the thousands. Intakes for each level are scheduled separately through the year rather than as a single continuous programme. Successful completion of all four levels leads to Journeyperson classification in carpentry. Students must already be indentured apprentices to enrol; the technical training is not open to those without an employer sponsor and TWID registration. Graduates with further experience can move into roles such as foreman, estimator, building inspector, site superintendent, or trades instructor. The programme suits working apprentices needing the classroom and shop instruction required alongside their workplace hours to progress toward full certification.
