Diploma in Music

This program leads to a DEC in Music at Collège d'Alma, completed over two years across four semesters of full-time study. It combines individual instruction on a principal instrument and a complementary instrument with music theory, solfège and ear training, ensemble performance in chamber groups, vocal ensembles, stage bands and orchestras, keyboard technique, music analysis and history, and digital music and audio-visual editing labs, alongside general education in literature and philosophy. Students have access to twenty practice rooms, two professional recording studios, audio-visual editing suites and a 280-seat performance venue. Admission requires standard college qualifications plus music fundamentals equivalent to secondary Level 5, together with an audition covering the chosen instrument, ear training and theory. The program suits students seeking intensive training on their instrument while keeping open university pathways in music, education, communications and the humanities.
