Overview
Collège d'Alma is a public CEGEP in Alma, in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, offering pre-university and technical diploma programs (DEC) under Quebec's collegial system created in 1967.
The college became an autonomous institution in 1980 and today enrols more than 1,300 students in its regular program stream, alongside roughly a thousand adults in continuing education. Pre-university streams, each two years long, prepare students for university in fields such as arts, letters and communication, visual and digital arts, music, natural sciences, and human sciences.
Three-year technical programs lead directly into the workforce, spanning nursing, business administration, computer science technology, pharmacy technology, police technology, and agricultural business management, several delivered with paid work terms or supervised internships. The campus houses applied research and technology-transfer centres, including COlab for digital innovation and Agrinova for agri-food technology, giving students exposure to industry projects alongside coursework.
Collège d'Alma also supports a dedicated student-life program, varsity Jeannois athletic teams, and services for international and Indigenous students.
Since the college's founding, more than 35,000 students have graduated from its programs, reflecting its role as the main post-secondary institution serving the Lac-Saint-Jean area.
