Sound Technology is a Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) offered by Collège d'Alma over three years, or six sessions, of full-time study, preparing sound specialists for the entertainment, music, film, and video-game industries. The curriculum builds auditory acuity, technical creativity, and professional autonomy through hands-on training with two recording studios equipped with SSL and AVID S6 consoles, digital audio workstations, and an equipment-loan library. Students work toward industry-recognized certification on Pro Tools, take part in facility tours to companies such as Cirque du Soleil and Solotech, collaborate with the college's music programme, and contribute to campus cultural events. Admission is based on general admission conditions together with an assessment of auditory and visual acuity, observation and listening skills, creativity, autonomy, attention to detail, stress management, and logical thinking. Graduates are prepared for sound-technician roles in recording, live sound, post-production, and related audio work across the entertainment industry.
