This Diploma of College Studies (DEC) technical program in Building Estimating and Appraisal Technology, option Construction Estimating, trains students to analyze construction projects, take off the quantities of materials required, and estimate construction costs. Coursework covers reading construction plans and specifications, quantity surveying, and cost estimation for residential, commercial, and institutional building projects. The technical program runs full-time over three years (six sessions) at Collège Montmorency in Laval, Quebec, and leads to a DEC credential that qualifies graduates for direct entry into the construction-estimating field or for further university study in construction management or a related discipline.
