Overview
The University Studies program offers the first two years of instruction, so you need to transfer to a university to finish your degree. You transfer the credits you receive for CNC courses to a university and continue on to complete your degree. When you take one of our UT courses, it’s as though you were studying in the same class at a university.
For example, if you complete our introductory psychology course, a university will give you credit for its introductory course. To ensure your credits transfer seamlessly, CNC has formal agreements in place with the following BC universities: Emily Carr University, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Thompson Rivers University, University of Victoria and Vancouver Island University.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission is open, on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis, to applicants who have completed Grade 12 (including English 12 or English 12: First Peoples), CNC's ABE/Academic Upgrading Advanced Certificate, a GED certificate, or Grade 11 with an outstanding academic record in the year of application; a GED meets the general admission bar but not the prerequisites of individual transfer courses, so students must still satisfy each chosen course's own prerequisites and are advised to consult a counsellor on course selection. The programme page does not itself list test scores but links out to CNC's general English Language Proficiency Requirements, which apply to international applicants: IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0, PTE Academic overall 59 with no section below 55, CAEL overall 60 with no subtest below 60, CELPIP General with no section below 7, or Duolingo English Test overall 115 valid two years.
Application Details
Application Deadline:College of New Caledonia runs first-qualified, first-accepted admissions with no single deadline for most programmes. Domestic and international applicants use the same process, though international students also go through CNC's international application page: applications for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 entry are open now, and applications for Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 entry open on 1 October 2026. Seats are assessed on a rolling basis and close once a programme fills or the term begins; CNC advises applying as soon as applications open, and international applicants typically get an offer letter within four to six weeks. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program) and the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Diploma are exceptions, each carrying a fixed 1 March application-and-documentation deadline. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
