Overview

The Dental Assistant Certificate combines face-to-face and online learning practice and clinical based training to prepare you for a career as a Dental Assistant. You must be prepared to attend practical experiences which may take place in communities other than Cranbrook. You are responsible for arranging their own transportation and for travel and living expenses. The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada, hence graduates are eligible to write the National Dental Assistant Examining Board exam which allows for registration with the British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals upon successful completion.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: English proficiency: all international applicants must submit IELTS Academic - no other test is accepted - with a minimum of 6.5 in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing and 6.5 overall, regardless of country of education (a British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals licensing requirement). Students must complete every course of the Certified Dental Assisting program with a minimum passing grade of 70%. A criminal record may reduce or remove access to the practicum placements the program requires.

Application Deadline: Domestic and international applicants to College of the Rockies both apply through EducationPlannerBC. For the 2027-28 academic year the general application window opens 1 November 2026, and applications received by 28 February 2027 get priority processing for Fall 2027 entry; admission is otherwise rolling with no fixed closing date. International applicants get a decision about two weeks after a complete application, with no separate published international deadline. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is competitive-entry: its window runs 1 November 2026 to 15 February 2027, with final transcripts due 28 February 2027 for Fall 2027 admission. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
