The Bachelor of Health Sciences (Respiratory Therapy) is a four-year entry-to-practice degree offered by Dalhousie's School of Health Sciences. The program prepares Respiratory Therapists to evaluate, treat and maintain heart and lung function for patients of all ages across a range of care settings. Coursework covers cardiopulmonary physiology, respiratory therapy clinical assessment, and related health sciences and clinical education courses. In years one through three, students complete a clinical practicum of six to eight weeks each summer, with most placements located across Atlantic Canada. The program is fully accredited, and graduates are eligible for membership in the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists. A two-year post-diploma option is also offered for practicing therapists. Coursework is delivered through a combination of online instruction and in-person clinical placements, with a September intake. Admission is limited, with priority given to Nova Scotia and other Atlantic Canada residents; international students are not eligible for admission.
