The Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Neuroscience at Dalhousie University is a research-based doctoral program within the Faculty of Medicine. Students carry out original, supervised research addressing questions across the neurosciences, drawing on the resources of a medical faculty engaged in a wide range of biomedical research, including access to the university's Human Body Donation Program and Clinical Cadaver Program. The program is delivered on campus on a full-time basis, with a nominal full-time length of five years, culminating in a dissertation defended before a supervisory committee. Admission requires a first-class thesis-based master's degree (or equivalent) and a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours of study. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet a higher English-proficiency threshold than the university's general graduate minimum. Graduates are prepared for research careers in neuroscience within academic, clinical, and biomedical research settings.
