Dalhousie University's Master of Science in Medical Research is a thesis-based graduate program in the Faculty of Medicine designed to bridge clinical and basic medical research. Students concentrate primarily on thesis research while receiving training in clinical research methods, with specialization options in basic science, clinical research, epidemiology, population health, or medical education. The program provides organized research infrastructure, support from a dedicated research associate, internal stipends, and dedicated research space. Students pursue independent, supervisor-guided research culminating in a thesis that is developed and defended before a committee. The program is delivered on campus on a full-time basis and normally takes two years or longer to complete. Graduates are prepared for careers bridging clinical practice and biomedical research.
