Program details

Overview

The Bachelor of Applied Computer Science is an undergraduate degree at Dalhousie's Halifax campus, with September and January entry, including a direct-entry pathway from high school. The curriculum pairs programming and software development with project management, communication, and organizational behaviour, and covers data structures, algorithms, cloud computing, cybersecurity, user interface design, and mobile computing, along with a course in law for computer scientists. A distinguishing feature is a multi-year sequence of Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced project courses in which students work on problems for community partners. An optional paid co-op stream is available, with past placements at employers such as Microsoft, IBM, and CGI. Students can add minors from across the university and certificates in areas including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and web or mobile development. The program suits students who want to combine hands-on technical skills with business and leadership training for roles that bridge software development and its practical implementation.

Application Deadline: Dalhousie's live Dates and Deadlines page still shows the September 2026 entry cycle as of mid-September 2026, not the 2027 cycle.
