Overview

The Master of Science in Physiotherapy is a course-based, entry-to-practice graduate degree delivered full-time and in person at Dalhousie's Halifax campus, beginning each September and running 28 months or longer. The program focuses on human movement and function in health and disease, preparing students to assess, diagnose, and treat conditions affecting the neurological, musculoskeletal, and cardiorespiratory systems. Clinical placements make up 30 weeks of the program, providing more than 1,100 hours of clinical experience at sites across Atlantic Canada, and students should expect to travel for these placements. The program has completed an accreditation review through Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada. It suits students with a four-year undergraduate degree and required coursework in physiology, anatomy, statistics, and related sciences who are aiming for careers as physiotherapists in orthopedic, cardiovascular, pediatric, neurological, or general practice settings, working independently or within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants need a four-year undergraduate degree (or equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 3.3 (B+) in the last 60 credit hours, plus prerequisite coursework in human physiology (6 credit hours), human anatomy (3 credit hours), statistics (3 credit hours), life sciences (3 credit hours), and languages/humanities/social sciences (6 credit hours, including 3 credit hours of psychology). Applicants must satisfy Dalhousie's English language proficiency requirements where applicable. The application deadline is January 31 for a September start. Note: international applicants are not eligible for this program due to residency requirements.
