Public Administration combined with JD (JD)(MPA)

This four-year, full-time, in-person program combines Dalhousie University's Juris Doctor (JD) and Master of Public Administration (MPA) degrees through a collaboration between the Schulich School of Law and the Faculty of Management. The MPA component is a non-thesis, course-based program, and students complete an MPA internship, working in the public sector as part of their studies. Graduates hold two credentials, a JD and an MPA, combining legal training with public administration skills for careers in government, non-governmental organizations or policy work. Applicants must satisfy the entrance requirements of both the JD and MPA programs and apply for each separately, gaining admission to both to enter the combined program. Tuition for the MPA portion is charged on a per-course basis over the program's four-year length. New students begin the program in September, following Dalhousie's Faculty of Graduate Studies minimum admission requirements alongside the JD and MPA program-specific criteria.
