The Intercultural and International Studies Associate Degree prepares students for careers in international relations, diplomatic relations or foreign affairs, covering current global issues, communication in an international context and the basics of a second language. The credential is a 60-credit, two-year Associate of Arts Degree offered through the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts at Douglas College, with admission under Open Enrolment - General Admission Requirements. Beyond the degree's general Associate of Arts requirements, students complete a defined set of intercultural communication and international studies courses, at least one course each from designated humanities and social science lists, and two consecutive levels of one language. Course selections can lead toward a bachelor's degree in political science or international studies, typically entering third year. An optional Co-operative Education designation alternates study semesters with paid work terms. Graduation requires a minimum program GPA of 2.00, with at least half the credits completed at Douglas College.
