Douglas College offers Psychosocial Rehabilitation Graduate Diploma, a postgraduate diploma in Rehabilitation Sciences programme in New Westminster, Canada. The programme runs for 1 year, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 682 per credit (CAD 145 per credit for local students).
Described by Douglas College as the only program of its kind in Western Canada, this 15-credit graduate diploma is a one-year, part-time, fully online credential for mental health practitioners moving into recovery-based services. Four courses are delivered online in real time alongside a practicum course, giving students the specialised knowledge and skills the field expects as services shift toward a recovery orientation. Course materials are built around applying and integrating the current Canadian PSR Competencies of Practice in mental health and substance use settings, and the diploma prepares graduates to qualify as a Certified Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Practitioner with PSR Canada, a certification recognised by employers nationally. Entry requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, the college's English language proficiency requirement, and completion of an abnormal psychology course or an equivalent assessed by the program coordinator.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada, or from any recognized English-speaking country, which satisfies the Douglas College English language proficiency requirement here in the form of English 12 with a grade of C or an acceptable substitution. Applicants must also provide proof of completion of an undergraduate course in Abnormal Psychology, either Douglas College's own PSYC 2341 or an equivalent, or otherwise demonstrate equivalent courses and/or experience as evaluated by the Program Coordinator; this qualifying course requirement exists to ensure that entrants have a basic understanding of mental illness and its treatments before starting the Graduate Diploma.
