Overview
Health offices are increasingly complex, driven by technology and require strong administrators at the helm. As a student in this online program, you will learn medical terminology and have a general understanding of anatomy and physiology. You will understand the procedures required to operate a health– care office and will be able to transcribe a wide range of health-related data. You will understand the latest hospital information systems and know how to use them. Delivered synchronously, this program incorporates scheduled classes that you’ll join from the comfort of your home. Working virtually with your classmates, you will learn from professionals who are current in their field and will have the opportunity to enhance your resumé with real-life work experiences.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic entry runs through Ontario's college application system: the minimum is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent Grade 12 diploma from another Canadian province, or Mature Student Status for applicants 19 or older who have not finished high school. On top of that general route this program requires Grade 12 English at the C or U level. Applicants may enter Year 1 in September or January; January entrants complete semesters 1 and 2 between January and August, then start Year 2, Semester 3, immediately that September. Applicants without a Canadian credential may instead demonstrate English proficiency to Durham College's institution-wide standard for certificate, diploma and graduate-certificate programs: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 88 overall with no section below 22, PTE Academic 53 overall with no section below 49, CAEL 60 with no section below 60, or Duolingo English Test 110 or higher.
