Overview
The Paramedic program at Durham College offers an immersive, supportive, and future-focused learning experience designed to prepare students for the evolving realities of paramedicine. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Mature Student Status, plus four senior credits - English at Grade 12 (C or U); mathematics at Grade 12 (C, M or U); biology at Grade 11 or 12 (C, M or U); and chemistry at Grade 11 or 12 (C, M or U). Durham lists this among the programs it expects to be highly competitive, so applicants who are complete by the equal-consideration date get ranked on an average of four senior-level prerequisite subjects (Grade 11 or 12 at the C, M or U level), and the marks needed in practice sit above these published minimums. Conditions attached after an offer: a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (without a clear result you cannot start placement, which blocks completing the program and being hired); Canadian Heart and Stroke CPR at BLS provider level, current within a year; a standard first aid certificate current within three years; an entry immunisation form covering COVID-19 vaccination; and a report confirming freedom from communicable disease. A Class G driver's licence must be held by the end of first year and a Class F licence by the start of semester 3 - Class F is what Ontario employers require of a working paramedic, and applying for it needs the provincial Ministry of Transportation medical report.
