Overview
Active, hands-on learning is at the core of every marketing program at Durham College. From day one, students engage in real-world projects, use industry-standard tools (including AI-driven platforms), and collaborate with local and international businesses to solve authentic marketing challenges. Across the curriculum, students build career-ready skills by analyzing case studies, developing campaigns, and working on live projects with real clients. Courses are designed to reflect the realities of today’s fast-moving marketing landscape—blending creativity with data, strategy with execution, and theory with action. Students in the three-year advanced diploma program also have the opportunity to gain industry experience through a four-week (160-hour) unpaid field placement in their final semester or by applying for the optional co-op program. These real-world experiences allow students to apply what they’ve learned in professional settings, work alongside experienced marketers, and build the confidence, skills, and connections they need to launch a successful career.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Domestic entry runs through Ontario's college application system: the minimum is an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent Grade 12 diploma from another Canadian province, or Mature Student Status for applicants 19 or older who have not finished high school. On top of that general route this program requires Grade 12 English at the C or U level and Grade 11 mathematics at the C, M or U level. Applicants may enter Year 1 in September or January; January entrants complete semesters 1 and 2 between January and August, then start Year 2, Semester 3, immediately that September. Applicants without a Canadian credential may instead demonstrate English proficiency to Durham College's institution-wide standard for certificate, diploma and graduate-certificate programs: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 88 overall with no section below 22, PTE Academic 53 overall with no section below 49, CAEL 60 with no section below 60, or Duolingo English Test 110 or higher.
