Overview
As the rate of Ontarians living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) continues to rise, so is the need for skilled professionals who are prepared to use evidence-based interventions to support individuals, as well as their families and caregivers. Students in the Autism and Behavioural Sciences graduate certificate program will develop expertise in the collaborative design, implementation and evaluation of effective behavioural intervention plans, according to the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis. They will also gain valuable work experience through two supervised field placements.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This graduate certificate requires either a college diploma in Early Childhood Education, Behavioural Science, Child and Youth Care or Developmental Services Worker, or a university degree in Behavioural Science, Child Studies, Education, Psychology, Social Work or Sociology; no minimum admission average is stated. Proof of English-language proficiency is required; the programme page defers to Durham College's English Language Proficiency Policy, which for graduate certificates sets Durham College's institution-wide policy for certificate, diploma, advanced-diploma and graduate-certificate programs: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, PTE Academic 53 overall with no section below 49, CAEL 60 overall with no section below 60, or Duolingo English Test 110 or higher. Internationally educated applicants from non-English-speaking countries must meet that policy specifically.
