Overview
Graduates of Fanshawe’s Business – Insurance program are able to pursue a career in the property and casualty insurance industry, including claims adjustment, underwriting, brokerage, agency or direct writers, loss control and risk management. Graduates are prepared to start in a variety of entry-level to junior-level positions, including customer service representative, underwriter, claims adjuster, loss control specialist, risk manager, appraiser, broker or agent.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Fanshawe admits Business - Insurance applicants who hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or who qualify as mature applicants with Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 11 Math (C, U or M) at a minimum of 60%, or Grade 12 Math (C or U). Applicants short of these courses are directed toward academic upgrading or Fanshawe's one-year Business Fundamentals Ontario College Certificate, which carries successful graduates into level 2 of any Lawrence Kinlin School of Business diploma. English-language applicants must meet Fanshawe's published minimums: IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT overall 4.5 with no section below 4 on the 2026 scale (79 on the pre-2026 scale); PTE Academic, CAEL, Duolingo, Cambridge English and LanguageCert scores are also accepted. Where eligible applicants exceed available seats, Fanshawe ranks by preference for Ontario permanent residents, then by applications received by February 1st, then by strength against the admission requirements. Advanced standing is available through prior academic credit or Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR). Exposure to the business world through part-time employment or business courses, and to Microsoft Office software, is recommended personal preparation.

Application Deadline:Fanshawe publishes no deadline specific to this program — these are the college-wide dates. Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027 for Fall 2027 entry (the cycle opened 26 September 2026), and applications arriving after it are assessed in order of receipt until the program fills. Offers to non-competitive programs begin going out 1 November 2026, competitive-program offers are sent by 30 March, and 1 May 2027 is the usual deadline to accept an offer. International applicants apply directly to Fanshawe (CAD 100 fee) and have no single published cut-off date; instead, proof of study-permit approval is due 9 December 2026 for a January 2027 start and 5 April 2027 for a May 2027 start, with all admission conditions cleared by 15 December 2026 and 15 April 2027 respectively.
