Fanshawe College is a public college of applied arts and technology in London, Ontario, founded in 1967.

Admission Requirements: HOW TO APPLY — Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, protected persons and Convention refugees) do not apply to Fanshawe directly: full-time applications go through the provincial portal at ontariocolleges.ca. International applicants apply straight to Fanshawe on the college's own international application and pay a CAD 100 application fee; a tuition deposit may be required before the Provincial Attestation Letter needed for a study permit is issued.
ACADEMIC ENTRY (domestic) — Certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas: an Ontario Secondary School Diploma carrying at least four Grade 12 courses at the College (C), Mixed (M) or University (U) level, or an Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate, or an equivalent secondary school diploma from outside Ontario. Four-year honours degrees: an OSSD carrying at least six Grade 12 M or U courses, plus a final average of at least 65% across the strongest six of those courses. Graduate certificates: a completed post-secondary credential, with some programs also weighing relevant work experience. Mature applicants — at least 19 by the first day of class and two years clear of high school — may be admitted without the diploma itself provided they hold credit in every course a program lists as an entry requirement. Most programs add their own required courses and higher minimum grades on top of this baseline.
ACADEMIC ENTRY (international) — The same credential levels apply, with the applicant's own secondary or post-secondary qualifications assessed against the Ontario equivalents; Fanshawe publishes country-by-country equivalencies inside each program page.
ENGLISH (required of any applicant whose first language is not English; results must be under two years old) — Minimums differ by credential level. Certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band under 5.5, TOEFL iBT 79 (pre-2026 scale), PTE Academic 53, Duolingo 105 overall with no sub-score under 95, CAEL 60 overall with 50 per band and 80 in listening, Cambridge English 169 overall with 162 per skill, LanguageCert Academic 65 overall with 60 per skill. Degrees and graduate certificates: IELTS 6.5 with no band under 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88, PTE 59, Duolingo 120 with no sub-score under 105, CAEL 70 with 60 per band, Cambridge 176 with 169 per skill, LanguageCert 70 with 65 per skill. Health-career programs (Dental Hygiene, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapy, Practical Nursing, Medical Radiation Technology, Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant, and the Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing): IELTS 7.0 overall with 6.5 in reading and listening and 7.0 in writing and speaking, TOEFL iBT 92 (22 writing, 26 speaking, 20 reading, 20 listening), PTE 65, Duolingo 135 with literacy at least 130 and no other sub-score under 125, CAEL 70 in writing, reading and speaking with 80 in listening, Cambridge 185 with 176 per skill and 185 in listening. Several programs are published as exceptions: Business Fundamentals accepts IELTS 5.5 with no band under 5.0 or PTE 47; 911 and Public Safety Communications (PSC1) matches the diploma-level IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and Cambridge scores but sets CAEL higher, at 70 in writing, reading and speaking with 80 in listening, and publishes no Duolingo or LanguageCert option; and Pharmacy Technician asks for IELTS 7.0 in reading, listening and speaking with 6.5 in writing. Because a number of programs set their own figures, confirm the score on the page of the program you are applying to. The test can be waived for applicants with a Canadian Grade 12 English credit at college or university level (health-career programs instead require Canadian English credits across Grades 9 to 12), for applicants from countries where English is the primary official language, and for holders of at least two years of credentials taught in English at an accredited institution and completed within the past two years.
