Overview
STEM Foundations is a one-year, full-time Ontario College Certificate at George Brown College that prepares students for diploma and advanced diploma programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The two-semester program builds foundational knowledge in mathematics and science alongside logical reasoning, quantitative problem-solving, and technical communication skills, using digital, programming, and laboratory tools to collect, process, and interpret data in practical STEM contexts. Coursework covers communication, mathematics, engineering design, biology, physics, and organic and inorganic chemistry, with classes scheduled Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with grade 12 English (C or U), or mature student status (19 years of age or older without an OSSD). Graduates can pursue further George Brown diploma programs such as Architectural Technician, Computer Systems Technician, Electromechanical Engineering Technician, Construction Engineering Technician, and Computer Programming. The program starts each September and is open to both domestic and international students.
