Overview
The Apparel Fit Technician program is a 16-week, part-time certificate offered by George Brown College, delivered at the Fashion Exchange campus at 63 Regent Park Blvd. in Toronto. It teaches students to recognize good apparel fit, identify fit problems, correct fit in ready-made garments, and apply fit standards across different body types and fabrics. Coursework covers diagnosing fit issues, recommending adjustments, and marking garments for alterations, alongside customer service skills and fabric knowledge, preparing graduates for work in alteration, retail, bridal, costume, and custom-fit studios. The program includes a 100-hour work-integrated field placement and is based at George Brown's Fashion Exchange hub, a production facility used by local designers and fashion producers. It begins in January, May, July, and September.
