The American Sign Language and Deaf Studies certificate is a fully online, synchronous program, where students meet live with professors on Zoom. Requirements

Admission Requirements: Entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent with Grade 12 English at the College (C) or University (U) level. Applicants aged 19 or older without an OSSD may instead sit the college's Admissions Assessment for English or complete English upgrading. No standardized English-proficiency test score is published for this programme; applicants with international transcripts should consult George Brown's general international-admissions requirements. George Brown notes that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission and that applicants may need grades above the stated minimums. College or university credits may qualify for course exemptions through the program's Transfer Guide.

Start Date: Intakes: September (Fall). In the published 2026-27 cycle, Fall 2026 classes begin 8 September 2026. Open to domestic applicants only in 2026-27.

Application Deadline: No program-specific application deadline is published; George Brown follows the standard Ontario college cycle. DOMESTIC applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programs starting in Fall 2027 the application opens on 26 September 2026, colleges may release offers from 1 November 2026, the equal consideration date is 1 February 2027 (applications completed by that date are ranked together, and later ones are then handled first-come, first-served while seats remain), and an offer for a September start must be accepted by 1 May 2027, with the tuition deposit due in June 2027. This program is not open to INTERNATIONAL applicants in the 2026-27 cycle.
