Advanced Studies in Inclusive Early Childhood is a one-semester, post-diploma certificate from George Brown College for Registered Early Childhood Educators, teachers, and supervisors working in community-based or full-day kindergarten programs. The program combines theoretical study with case-based applications to deepen inclusive early-childhood practice and build awareness of community resources for supporting children with special needs, with a focus on the social aspects of special needs and on developing Individual Program Plans (IPP). Key areas of study include early identification, observation and assessment, individual program planning, behaviour guidance, social competence, communication with families, teamwork strategies, and strategies for working with community partners. Students must be working directly with children to complete the required Individual Program Plan assignment. The single-course program begins each January, is open to domestic students only, and leads to a George Brown College Certificate.
