Overview
This four-semester diploma at Humber Polytechnic's Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology, based at the North campus, prepares students to support, manage and maintain data centre systems. The curriculum covers electromechanical systems, networking, automation, cybersecurity and systems integration, alongside emergency management and operations technology, with courses developed in collaboration with industry partners on topics including data centre infrastructure maintenance, industrial management, site operations and IT/OT systems. Students also study network design and configuration, cybersecurity protocols and cloud architecture and operations, and learn to integrate automation into operational systems. In the final year, students work through complex, hands-on scenarios modelled on real-world data centre challenges, and the program is structured to help prepare students for industry-recognized certifications. It suits students aiming for technician or management roles supporting high-availability data centre environments across business, government and critical-infrastructure sectors.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, including Grade 12 English at the C or U level (ENG4C or ENG4U) plus Grade 12 Mathematics at the C or U level (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U) or Grade 11 Mathematics at the M or U level (MCF3M or MCR3U), and two further Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses beyond those listed. Mature-student status and college-or-university-transfer status are also accepted admission routes. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber's English Language Proficiency Policy; for this credential level the college accepts IELTS Academic overall 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 with a minimum of 20 in each of listening, writing, speaking and reading, PTE Academic 53 or above, Duolingo English Test 105 or above, or CAEL 60 overall. Canadian citizens and permanent residents with international education must have their credentials evaluated - ICAS for a secondary-school transcript, WES for post-secondary study - course-by-course wherever transfer credit is sought.
