The Fire Officer Certificate at the Justice Institute of British Columbia is a 30-credit program offered at four levels aligned with the NFPA 1021 Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. Admission Requirements: The Fire Officer Certificate admits by prior certification level rather than academic grades. Fire Officer I requires an NFPA 1001 certificate and completion of the required courses; Fire Officer II requires an NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level I certificate from a ProBoard or IFSAC-accredited institution; Fire Officer III requires the NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level II certificate; and Fire Officer IV requires the NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level III certificate, each from a ProBoard or IFSAC-accredited body. All applicants must submit a copy of their IFSAC- or ProBoard-accredited NFPA 1001 certificate. JIBC does not publish a minimum GPA, admission average, or English/French language-test score for this certificate. A non-refundable application fee of CAD 75 for domestic applicants and CAD 150 for international applicants is charged. No portfolio, interview, work experience, or criminal record check is stated. There are no set application deadlines; applicants are encouraged to apply at least two months before their first course, and the 30-credit program is offered mainly online with classroom options.

Application Deadline:JIBC runs two admission models: Continuous Intake programs (most certificates and micro-credentials) accept and review applications year-round with no fixed deadline, while Scheduled Intake programs (its bachelor's degrees, diplomas, and EMS/paramedic and law-enforcement programs) publish a specific opening and closing date for each cohort. For example the Winter 2027 cohort (starting 4 January 2027) generally opens in August 2026 and closes between early November and early December 2026, and the Spring/Summer 2027 cohort (starting 3 May 2027) opens in December 2026 and closes between early March and early April 2027. Fall 2027 dates for most Scheduled Intake programs were not yet published at the time of research. JIBC does not publish a separate international deadline; international applicants use the same program-specific dates and must also budget time for study-permit processing. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
