Offered by Lambton College of Applied Arts and Technology in Sarnia, Canada, Cert in Pre-Trades and Technology is a certificate in Upgrading/upskilling programme. The programme runs for 1 year, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 4,250 per total for local students.
This certificate is designed for students who are interested in a trades or technology career but have not yet settled on a specific path, or who lack the prerequisites for the program they want. Over two terms, students are introduced to career options and program offerings across the skilled trades as well as two- and three-year technician and technology programs, while also receiving guidance toward personal goals, building life skills, and strengthening their knowledge of subjects such as chemistry and math. One course per term is selectable from a list of options, giving students the chance to take diploma-level courses and bank advanced credit toward a future diploma program. A shorter, one-term version running in the winter leads to a separate Board of Governors certificate, offering courses spanning science, math, communications, student success and life skills in a full slate, alongside its own advanced-credit options.
