Overview
In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Lambton College is offering a dedicated stream of the Liberal Studies program that will address the university attainment gap for Indigenous students as well as, provide an opportunity for non-indigenous students to be better equipped to understand varied perspectives as daily life and mainstream employment intersect with Indigenous people.Students will learn about the historical and contemporary relationships between Canada and Indigenous people as well as Indigenous ways of knowing. This diploma is filled with Indigenous-focused electives, alongside liberal studies courses, providing a well-rounded education that develops students' critical thinking.A program built with pathways in mind, eligible graduates can continue their educational journey toward earning an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies degree with McMaster University or a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This Ontario College Diploma, the Indigenous Studies stream of Liberal Studies, requires an O.S.S.D. or equivalent, including Grade 12 English at the C or U level; the programme page lists no further Grade 12 subject prerequisite. Applicants who have not completed the required English course may instead qualify through Lambton's Mature Student Assessment in English if they meet the mature-student criteria, and academic admission requirements can otherwise be completed through Academic Upgrading and Lambton's Pre-Programs. International applicants must also meet Lambton College's institution-wide English-language proficiency requirement for diploma and certificate programs: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0 (one skill retake accepted), TOEFL iBT 78, PTE Academic 60, CAEL 60 with no band below 50, CELPIP General 7, or Duolingo English Test 105, among the other tests the college accepts; scores must be dated within the last two years.
