Requirements

Admission Requirements: This diploma is a professional-experience-based program rather than a direct-entry undergraduate program. The program page states that applicants should normally have the equivalent of one year of post-secondary education plus two years of experience working with or for Indigenous organizations or governments, or other relevant public- or non-profit-sector work experience. Applicants who lack a formal post-secondary credential may still be admitted conditionally where their professional experience is judged equivalent. The program assumes applicants already have foundational knowledge of Canada's relationship with Indigenous Peoples, and anyone unsure of their background is directed to contact the program office before applying. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to self-identify on their application. The page does not publish a specific English language test score for this diploma, so international applicants should expect UVic's general undergraduate English proficiency policy to apply at the admissions-office stage.

Application Details

Start Date: Fall and Spring
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through EducationPlannerBC, which opens for 2027-entry applications on 1 October 2026: most degree programmes see September 2027 entry close 31 January 2027, January 2027 entry close 30 September 2026, and Summer 2027 entry close 31 March 2027, though Teacher Education post-degree programmes close 2 January 2027, Indigenous Education post-degree admits on an ongoing basis, and Engineering's Summer entry (high-school graduates only) closes 31 December 2026. International applicants use the same portal and face identical dates, since UVic publishes no separate international deadline. UVic treats these as fixed annual dates rather than rolling admission, though it warns any programme can close early without notice. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
