Overview

This Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is designed for students who wish to work as a communicative disorders assistant in a supportive capacity with a qualified speech-language pathologist and/or audiologist. This program runs in-person from September through August and prepares graduates to design and implement programming based on the assessments and treatment plans outlined by qualified speech-language pathologists and audiologists.The Communicative Disorders Assistant profession is not governed by a regulatory body or college so as a result, there is no accreditation pathway for this program. Lambton College itself is an accredited college and this program is recognized by the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada as having met or exceeded the association's standards.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission requires applicants to hold, at minimum, a post-secondary diploma or degree with an emphasis on speech and language development, communication disorders, linguistics, human anatomy, physiology, social sciences, or health and community services, and to submit a transcript of that credential. The programme page sets no English-language proficiency standard of its own for international applicants and defers to Lambton College's institution-wide requirement, the graduate-certificate tier of its published scale: equivalent completion of Ontario secondary school plus IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88, PTE Academic 60, CAEL 70, or CELPIP 8. No portfolio, interview, or other condition is stated on either page.

Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programmes starting September 2027 the application opens 26 September 2026 and 1 February 2027 is both the general equal-consideration date and the deadline Lambton states for its own competitive programs; later applications are assessed first-come, first-served while seats remain, and Lambton names no specific competitive programmes on its admissions page. International applicants apply directly to Lambton or through an authorised agent, with applications processed within two to five business days; the college publishes no fixed international closing date, and offers carry their own acceptance and payment deadlines.
