Program details
Overview
Health Sciences: Arts is a two-year diploma offered by Langara College's Department of Health Sciences, using a multidisciplinary approach rooted in epidemiology and public health to understand variation in health within and between populations. The program combines arts subjects such as anthropology, psychology, sociology, geography, history, philosophy, and political science with science subjects including chemistry, biology, environmental science, and statistics, and addresses contemporary topics such as addiction, ecohealth, gender, indigeneity, race and racism, sexuality, and social justice as they relate to public and population health. Students may pursue the program in an Arts or Science stream toward a Diploma or an Associate Degree. It provides a foundation for entry-level work in health agencies or for transfer into a four-year degree in health sciences or a related field, including third-year transfer into Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Health Sciences or the University of Victoria's Health and Community Services program.
