MA/MS in Civil Engineering (MASc)

The MASc in Civil Engineering strengthens knowledge gained at the undergraduate level in a specific area of civil engineering and provides a significant introduction to research involving original investigation. Admission normally requires an Honours Bachelor's degree in engineering or a physical science background. The program requires completion of the equivalent of four half graduate-level courses together with the presentation and defence of a thesis embodying the results of original research. The nominal length of the program is one to two years, depending on the student's research progress and prior preparation. Admission is offered for the September and January terms. The program is administered by McMaster University's Department of Civil Engineering, providing access to faculty research groups and laboratory facilities spanning structural, geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and transportation engineering.
