Program details

Overview

The Diploma in Stage and Screen Technique is an undergraduate credential delivered through the drama specialization in Memorial University's Department of English, within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. It introduces students to the technical and creative practices behind live theatre and screen-based media, including production and multimedia technique. The program comprises eight courses (24 credit hours), combining practical studio work with coursework in dramatic arts. Students develop hands-on skills in stagecraft and screen production alongside a grounding in dramatic theory and performance. The diploma is intended to prepare graduates for work in the cultural and creative industries in Newfoundland and Labrador and elsewhere in North America, including theatre, film and video production, and related media roles. It can complement another undergraduate degree or serve as a stand-alone technical credential for students pursuing creative production careers.
