Overview

Geocomputing at Mount Allison University is an applied program combining computer science and geography to give students the tools to study the spatial dimensions of social and environmental problems. Computer science coursework covers programming techniques, algorithms, discrete structures, data structures, database systems, object-oriented design, and computers and society, while environment and geography coursework covers geographic information systems (GIS), the physical and human environment, data analysis, and resources management. It is offered as a Bachelor of Arts joint major (87 credits), and students complete an applied capstone project in their final year that integrates both fields. Delivery is on-campus at the Sackville, New Brunswick campus. The program suits students interested in spatial data, GIS, and environmental or social analysis, preparing graduates for careers in geographic information systems, environmental consulting, urban and regional planning, data analysis, and further graduate study.
