Overview

Mechanical Engineering Technicians’ responsibilities often include setting up and programming automation equipment; preparing and presenting technical reports and drawings; using precision instruments for inspection and testing; planning, implementing; and evaluating quality assurance procedures. Requirements

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, with any Grade 12 English and any Grade 12 Mathematics at the College (C) or University (U) level; Grade 11 or 12 Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Physics, and Technological Design are recommended but not required. International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency; Niagara College's institution-wide scale for undergraduate diploma/certificate programs applies: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band under 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80 with a minimum of 20 in Writing and Speaking, Duolingo English Test 105 or above with no subscore below 95, PTE Academic 58 or above with no skill below 53, or CAEL 60 with no band under 50. All students must lease a college-provided laptop as part of program requirements; no portfolio, interview, or minimum GPA is stated.

Application Deadline: Niagara College's equal-consideration deadlines apply equally to domestic and international applicants to competitive programs, published for the 2026-2027 cycle: for September 2026 entry the date was 1 February 2026, for January 2027 entry it is 5 June 2026, and for May 2027 entry it is 30 October 2026, each followed roughly three weeks later by a document deadline and an earliest-offer date. All other programs, the majority, are processed first-come, first-served starting each November for both domestic and international applicants, with offers issued until seats fill or the term begins. Niagara does not publish which named programs currently hold competitive status. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
