Women in Trades Training (WITT) is a set of initiatives at Thompson Rivers University that support women pursuing careers in the skilled trades, rather than a single fixed-credential program. Its core offering is the Women in Trades Training Exploratory Program, which helps participants become ready for trades employment, register as an apprentice, or work toward a credential in a SkilledTradesBC program. The broader SkilledTradesBC Women in Trades Training initiative is aimed at women who are unemployed or under-employed, welcomes all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, and requires no previous trades experience, with women who already have trades experience able to bypass introductory or exploration programs for pre-apprenticeship training or a challenge exam recognizing their existing skills.
