This Bachelor of Social Work, offered as an Honours Specialization on a full-time or part-time basis, equips students to address social issues and advocate for social justice through an interdisciplinary curriculum drawing on psychology and sociology. Years one and two, with intakes in fall, winter, and spring/summer, build a foundation in social work theory and ethics; years three and four are professional years, entered each fall, combining coursework with field placements in social service settings and an emphasis on ethical practice and cultural competency. Students with a prior degree may enter directly into year three if they meet the program's foundational course requirements. The program holds initial accreditation from the Canadian Association for Social Work Education and is eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit for international students. Graduates pursue careers in child welfare, community and social services, healthcare social work, and advocacy organizations, or continue into graduate study.
